Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has revealed that his injured finger is ‘progressing in the right way’ ahead of Monday’s playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Hurts dislocated the middle finger on his throwing hand during the Eagles’ 27-10 loss to the New York Giants in the regular-season finale. His hand collided with Giants linebacker Bobby Okereke’s hand.

On Thursday, during the portion of practice that was open to the media, Hurts was seen wearing a glove over the injured hand and only threw one very short pass to backup QB Marcus Mariota.

‘Obviously leaving that game and attempting to go back into that game probably wasn’t physically the best idea, not having much control over the things that I wanted to do,’ Hurts said.

‘But time will tell with that, and I can assure you things are progressing in the right way.’

Cameras were able to capture Hurts’ finger after it was bent out of shape. He briefly exited the game before returning to the field with tape around the finger.

‘I’m just going out there and giving my best and doing my best,’ Hurts said when asked how confident he is that he can play up to his standard Monday.

‘I told you it was a day-by-day thing. Getting the preparation in this week and doing everything I can to lead the guys.’

Hurts is not the only important member of the Eagles offense dealing with injury issues ahead of the Wild Card matchup against Tampa Bay.

Star wide receivers Brown and Smith have also been dealing with injuries ahead of the playoffs.

Smith missed the loss to the Giants with an ankle injury but participated in practice and told reporters to ‘count me in’ for Monday night’s game.

Brown, on the other hand, suffered a knee injury that forced him to leave the game against the Giants.

Cornerback Darius Slay, meanwhile, has been been sidelined since mid-December, expects to be ready for Monday following knee surgery.
