El Salvador celebrates its patron saint

The celebrations are thought to date back to the 16th Century and mark the Transfiguration of Jesus, an episode in the New Testament in which Jesuss appearance changed, with his face shining like the Sun and his garments becoming white as snow in a physical manifestation of his divinity.
