He started working on Wall Street right after he graduated high school. Cashin's first job was as an assistant clerk at Thomas & McKinnon in 1959. He is well known for his daily newsletter Cashin's Comments and has appeared on financial television programs. Cashin was part of a folk singing quartet and would have been signed to a record deal if the deal with Ray Charles didn't work out. Cashin became a partner at P.R. Herzig & Co. in 1964. In 1980 he joined Paine Webber as an institutional floor broker. He founded the Exchange Christmas Dinner Fund which fed over 185,000 people in 2006. Art's wife passed away after a battle with cancer in 1998. Cashin walked through the World Trade Center twice on the morning of the 9/11 attacks and now chairs the NYSE Fallen Heroes Fund.
